Ariston Dago is a sentry - a protector for his people. He watches the waters of his territory, keeping his god and his race safe both above and below the murky depths around Venice, Italy. When he's compelled to save a human that falls from a transport, his life is forever changed, because the human he saves, Teagan Moss, is his mate - the first human to ever mate a Dagonite.

Teagan Moss is the kind of woman to shoot first and then question the body later. When she wakes with a Hydro bomb strapped to her body, she knows someone is going to pay for trying to kill her - and that she is going to need the help of the sexy, exotic Dagonite to find out who exactly needs that bullet in their brain. What she doesn't count on is the scorching attraction she feels for the male who is so certain she is his.

Thrust into solving the mystery surrounding the attempt on his mate's life, Ari and Teagan uncover more than the answers they are looking for. And the truths they unearth could send the world into another war.

I loved this book. OK listen, all cards on the table— I shot the cover image, and I knew of the book, and the author sent it to me to read if I wanted to. I try to read every book with my covers, and let me tell you— there are plenty of books I won't finish or write a review for. Just because I did the cover image doesn't mean I'm going to rate it high.

To be honest... when I got the cover request I was all "Octopus shifter? Has to wear a utilikilt?!? Uh... ok?!" Yeah, I was. I wasn't sure about this whole thing, I mean I know there's a lot of octopus love, particularly in Japan, but I just wasn't seeing it. OH I SEE IT. But only here. Ariston is an amazing hero. He is an alpha with a tight rein on the chest thumping. It's awesome. Yeah, he does a little of it, I mean he's an alpha, they all have to do the GIRL MINE OO OO OO to some extent (don't get me wrong I love alpha males... I'm just simplifying here)

Alos.... you need to find out about the tentacles. You think you know... but you don't know.

The world building is extreme and incredible, it's well thought out and detailed, but it IS NOT OVERWHELMING. This is coming from a girl who doesn't read paranormals much because my brain rejects the worlds. I'm just too detail oriented, and when authors break their own rules I cannot handle it. SO I just don't read it. I've never been on the shifter bus... and I'm sure I read all the wrong books or something, but please don't send me recommendations I don't care. I read them occasionally, really only friends of mine, Thea Harrison, Vivian Arend, Stella... etc... so I have plenty of shifter/Steampunk/alternative world reading without recommendations.

I'm babbling. SO... let me 'splain... is to much, let me sum up ;)

I like these shifters. I loved the story, I'm looking forward to future books in this series. and please don't send me "if you liked this you'll love.." I'm not interested. But THANK YOU for thinking of me. I ignore recs from Goodreads. If you know me you know how to tell me to read something. It isn't here. All notifications from Goodreads are turned off, so don't waste your time. OH there I go again on another tangent... which is why I'm a writer and not a reviewer.

Did I mention I was given this book with no expectation of a review or anything? OK good, so we're all good then.

SO: I never threw my ipad across the room, I read this sucker in two days, there was no WTFckery, and I love the cover (believe me there are Studio Smexy covers I hate as well... once the image is sold I have no control...)

Eternal Echoes Sisters of the Divine Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Anastasia Virgas Sarah E Purdum Books Reviews

Omg where do I start! Firstly this is not like any shifter book that I have ever read... And I've read a few. I heard about this book from the author during a blog takeover and couldn't resist one clicking!! Hello Octopus shifter.. So very glad I did, I absofreakinglutely loved it!
Not going into spoilers or repeating the blurb, I will say I found the characters and setting so fascinating and enjoyable that I couldn't put it down!

This book can be classified across many genres, paranormal, romance, sci fi, action and adventure but regardless it's just an awesome sexy read!
There are a few editing oopsies but with Ms Virgas' ability to create a fast paced entertaining read they were easily overlooked!

A MUST read to fans of Shifters and all who enjoy something a little different!
So, I was in the mood to read something different, and I’ve have this book sitting on my for a while. After thinking, “how much more different can you get than a post-apocalyptic octopus shifter story?” I said WTH…I’ve only heard good things, I’ll give it a shot. I’ll admit, I didn’t know if the whole octopus thing would work for me, or if I’d just be weirded out by it, but…HOLY CRAP! I am in love with everything about this story!

We have Teagan Moss, who is a human ambassador, as well as a kick-@$$ female, and in no way your typical damsel in distress. Someone has taken her, strapped a bomb to her, and thrown her into the ocean, and that really pisses her off. Thankfully, Ariston Dago (a Dagonite sentry) isn’t too far away, and is able to save her before she is swallowed up by the creepy creatures down below.

There is an immediate connection between the two that neither can explain. Ari doesn’t know why he’s feeling the way he is towards the human, but he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Teagan tries to fight her feelings and focus on who tried to kill her and why, but those feelings soon prove to be too much to ignore. Maybe just one round and she’ll have him out of her system? Not with those talented tentacles, to say the least…

I love the world the author created for us, and while everything was very different and there was a lot of new world to explore, she made it very easy to keep up with everything. Eternal Echoes is a very action-packed, fast-paced story of love, destiny, politics, change, and a male and female lead that both kick @$$ and take names. Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed!
Sisters of the Divine Book One.

Ari Dago is on patrol one day when he sees a beautiful woman about to be eaten by a Leviathan. She is unconscious and has a bomb strapped to her chest. After rescuing her, Ari discovers Teagan is an ambassador well-liked by many other factions of the new races. He claims her as his mate, but neither can forsee the trouble brewing from past lovers.

If you're looking for a non-wolf shifter in a new world created from our own, this is the story for you!

Audio Review
Sarah E. Purdum narrates with a steady pace. She uses just enough inflection to keep it interesting, but not so much that it overpowers the story. There are a couple patches where she could have added just a bit of performance to the audio, but overall she has a good pace.
